THE STASH
What is it about?
Well it’s about comics really. Whatever your taste might be, DC,
Marvel, Image and so many others there are out there right now.
In recent years, through movies like Spiderman and Batman
Begins, comics have now captured the public eye and audiences as never before.
Those who never thought of these characters as three
dimensional beings are now looking at them beyond the films and even
beyond the printed page. There is something about these characters, even above
their amazing powers, that fascinate us. We want to know why it is they do what
they do, how it would be to live in their world and our desire to share in
these experiences and adventures is why the Stash exists.
For years I helped manage another
archive for Lord the Rings and the biggest complaint I heard there was the lack
of respectability that fan fiction seems to have. There is the feeling that if
you write fan fic, you’re perceived as little more
than some obsessive wannabe. Perhaps there is some truth to that for some but
to the general community of the fanfiction writers,
we tend to want to tell good stories with great characters. There’s nothing
worse than crafting a great story and then seeing it placed next to the
Batman/Wolverine MPREG fic (if you don’t know what MPREG is, consider
yourselves lucky).
The Stash has been created to give all writers are place to host
their comic based stories. I have looked around and other than Fan Fiction Net
and Adult Fan Fiction Net, there isn’t a place where such stories, whatever the
publisher can be housed. Furthermore, some of the stories on those sites are
questionable in their quality to say the least. You only have to read one Lady
Parasite rape of Superman story to get that. Yuck. I have nothing against these
sites but there is little moderation in regards to what gets
posted there and so readers have to plough through a lot of dregs to find good
works.
I hope it will not be the case on the Stash.
The site while adult is not slash-friendly. I have no problem
with same sex couples or any issue with homosexuality. My choice to make the
Stash slash-free has to do with the fact that there are many sites out there
with nothing else. The Stash wants to be a place where authors and readers who
have no inclination for these can read stories without running inadvertently
into a Superman/Batman pairing (???).
The content of the Stash should be about the story, not the pairing.
Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, I would also like to
invite writers and readers of the Stash, to help create a place for good
stories but also as a community where all fans for comic books can talk about
their particular fandom or even discuss how to hone their craft as writers. The Stash hopefully
when we have enough interest, should become a support group for writers and a
place for readers to offer constructive feedback.
So with all that said, on to the
Archive!
